It’s A Bunt Down The Third Base Line…

Today, I watched Bull Durham again. In many ways it is a great movie (for me) because the story includes important pieces of my life: Baseball, Life, Sex, Relationships, Success and Failure.

Like Crash Davis, I’m a point in my life where I am starting over. My twenty year marriage has fizzled like slow bunt but down the third base line. The fielders stand watching and waiting for the ball to roll foul. It never does. Finally, the play ends with winning (or losing) run crossing the plate. Game over.

We’ve lost this one but there is another tomorrow with twists, turns and the unknown. I look forward to the future. Join  me when you have time.

  3. We don’t always win, but didn’t someone say that it’s playing the game that counts?

  6. “Bull Durham” great movie. Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. I have watched it many times, albeit 15 years ago, or so.

It can be entertainment. It can be a metaphor. It can be both.

“Ya may remember the strike-outs, son but ya always remember the hits.”
